Snapshot has arrived

I never dreamed I’d be releasing an album like Snapshot at this point in my life. 10 songs inspired by the sudden loss of someone I love. The grief was so acute at the time, I knew nothing else to do but pick up my guitar and write songs.
It’s what dad did. He picked up the guitar when he knew nothing else. My whole life I watched him pick up and put down the guitar. Pick up and put down the guitar. He mostly sang the blues and he sang for whoever would listen. He busked, he played in bars, he played for friends. He wrote books and poetry, philosophised with priests and rabbis. He was a beautiful and thoughtful song writer he made many albums, he recorded thousands of demos. One day I’ll record some of those demos for you to hear.

But for now, I have these 10 songs. Songs that moved me through the darkness, through the pain, through the strangeness of it all. “I come from peace and move towards the noise and that’s ok”. I hope this album grows with you and sheds warmth and light like it has done for me.

This is where I thank Ben Hillier for helping me to manifest what was inside my head. For being gentle, for navigating the course of the record. And to Joel Stein for playing the most exquisite and frenzied guitar Jimi Wheelright for glueing the parts together with your beautiful bass lines, Evan Jenkins for creating the rhythmic back bone for us all and Nick Pynn for creating lush atmosphere.
